ERPNext
ERPNext is a robust Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) framework intended for small and medium-sized businesses. It covers an extensive variety of features, including accounting, customer relationship management (CRM), inventory, sales, purchasing, manufacturing, projects, HR and payroll, website, e-commerce, and more. ERPNext is developed in Python and depends on the Frappe framework. It utilizes Node.js for the front end, Nginx for the web server, Redis for caching, and MariaDB for the database. ERPNext is Open Source released under the GNU General Public License v3.
ERPNext VM
For those who want an RHEL clone for their ERPNext setup, CentOS 8 is no longer a good alternative because support will end in 2021. There are a lot of choices to pick from to replace CentOS. We picked RockyLinux, another binary-compatible clone of RHEL, launched by one of the CentOS project’s founders – Gregory Kurtzer. Everything that runs on RHEL should run just fine on RockyLinux. You can download a disk image for a Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) here.
Quick Start
Use you favorite tool to create a VM. Start the VM and login with:
username: root
password: demo1234
Change the password of the current logged in user:
passwd
Edit the files in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts, or use your favorite tool, to configure the networking, and restart the network. You may need to destroy the VM and then start it.
Login to the VM as root with your new password, and update the operating system:
dnf update
Reboot the VM. Then login to the VM as root, and change to the ERPNext user:
su - erp
Change directory to frappe-bench:
cd frappe-bench
Create a new site with our domain name:
bench new-site erp.selinuxcomputing.com
Install ERPNext:
bench --site erp.selinuxcomputing.com install-app erpnext
Change user to root:
exit
Use you favorite editor to edit /etc/nginx/conf.d/frappe-bench.conf:
vi /etc/nginx/conf.d/frappe-bench.conf
Save the file and restart Nginx:
systemctl restart nginx
You can now log in to your website to finalize the setup.
